Not everyone dreams of a big, white wedding surrounded by hundreds of friends and family members. Instead, some couples prefer to host an intimate reception with only a small group of guests, or a casual reception at home or a local bar. At Hog Roast Bandon, we have a variety of menus that are ideal for any kind of celebration, including a non-traditional wedding menu!
Oliver and his fiancé got engaged earlier in 2022 while out for dinner at their favourite restaurant. The pair had always dreamt of an elaborate honeymoon to a beautiful Caribbean island, so they planned for a large amount of their wedding budget to be put towards their travelling funds. To make this dream a reality, the couple decided to host a more relaxed wedding reception at their home in Ireland, rather than hiring a venue and inviting a large number of guests. Oliver hired a marquee to stand in the garden of their home to protect guests from the risk of bad weather and invited 30 close friends and family members to attend the celebration. Hog Roast Bandon was hired to provide a buffet for the occasion, including a drinks service for a toast before the dessert. Our catering manager Nathan was looking forward to catering for this non-traditional reception and getting to be a part of such a special day!
On the day of the wedding, the Hog Roast Bandon team arrived at Oliver’s home and set up our catering station in the marquee. Once ready, we prepared a buffet meal of slow-roasted pork, fresh bread rolls, sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, crispy crackling, homemade chips, and seasonal salad dishes. This created a varied and delicious meal, with something for every guest to enjoy. After the meal had been enjoyed, the guests were served a glass of champagne to propose a toast to the happy couple. This was definitely a highlight of the day and it was great to be a part of it!
