It’s no secret that the Hog Roast Irvinestown team is made up of foodies; we simply love all things food related and as caterers, we relish every opportunity we can get to share our creations with others. So, when Ciaran asked us if we wanted to be involved in a food festival he was in charge of managing for the local community, we jumped at the chance to take part!
This particular festival had been organised with the aim of raising money for a brilliant charity, so guests were asked to pay a small entry fee in exchange for being able to access a range of dishes from all over the world!
Amidst the tightly-packed cluster of stalls that were pitched in the city centre last weekend was Hog Roast Irvinestown’s own gazebo, where our catering manager, Jamie, had spent the best part of the morning working on preparing a mind-blowing hog roast for the hundreds of locals who bought tickets to this event.
Combining years of catering expertise with the freshest, tastiest ingredients available in Northern Ireland, Jamie and the team rustled up a flavourful feast that looked as stunning as it tasted.
The pork, which had been scored, rubbed with salt and slow-cooked over real flames for hours until the skin was golden-brown, was soft and succulent on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. This irresistible pairing was served on gluten-free rolls with homemade sage and onion stuffing and a generous dollop of our iconic applesauce with a portion of mixed sweet potato and regular fries.
The guests were so impressed with the combination of flavours, which were perfectly balanced and harmonised with each other. This led many people to ask about our cooking process, which Jamie was all too happy to share. He even handed out a good number of business cards on the day after several people asked about catering for their upcoming events!
All in all, it was a fantastic day for Hog Roast Irvinestown and we couldn’t have hoped for a better reception. Everyone loved our food and since everyone was in high spirits, more donations were made to charity, which Ciaran was thrilled about!
