Hog Roast Lisburn Teamed Up With Brookhall Cottages To Give One Couple A Wedding They Won’t Forget!

Some wedding venues are impressive. Others are memorable. And then there are places like Brookhall Cottages that feel like they’ve been lifted straight out of a storybook.

Tucked just outside Lisburn, this venue has a little bit of everything: a history stretching back to 1000BC, quirky stone cottages, wandering donkeys, goats doing whatever goats do and ducks getting involved in proceedings whether invited or not – it’s the kind of setting that genuinely doesn’t need much dressing up. The atmosphere just exists there. Couples who pick Brookhall aren’t looking for a polished hotel ballroom; they want something that feels real and a little bit magical, and that’s exactly what they get.

As a proud catering partner of Brookhall Cottages, Hog Roast Lisburn has had the pleasure of being part of countless special days here – and every single one reminds us why this venue holds such a special place with us. Most recently, a couple trusted us to feed their 50 wedding guests, choosing our Southern Slow Roast Menu for the occasion which, honestly, suited the setting down to the ground. There’s something about slow-cooked American-style BBQ that fits a laid-back countryside wedding perfectly – big flavours, informal serving, food that invites people to fill their plates and take their time over it.

The buffet opened shortly after the ceremony and went down a treat with guests excitedly tucking into Texan 24-hour beef brisket that had been cooking long enough to be genuinely falling apart at the edges, Cajun-spiced whole roasted chickens with that deep, spiced crust and pulled quarter of minted lamb, which earned its own little fan base. And for the plant-based guests, vegan pulled jackfruit buns – smoky, rich and the kind of thing that makes people forget they’re not eating meat for a few happy minutes.

On the side Hog Roast Lisburn offered Greek salad, mac and cheese (which went faster than anyone expected) and sweet potato and classic fries, all served alongside a trio of glazes running from smokey sweet through to properly hot and fiery. Guests were mixing them liberally.

It was a beautiful day in a beautiful place, and we felt genuinely lucky to be part of it.

On that note, if you’re planning a wedding in the Lisburn area, Hog Roast Lisburn would love to hear from you.
