When the sun decides to make an appearance, concentrating at work suddenly becomes a lot harder. One glance out of the office window is all it takes before everyone starts thinking about pub gardens, BBQs and being anywhere but at their desk.
That’s exactly why summer staff events are such a good idea. A few hours away from the office, some good food and a chance to catch up properly can do wonders for morale. Our latest client clearly understood that, so they traded their desks for fresh air and invited Hog Roast Belfast along to cater for a 100-person summer gathering earlier in the month.
The client wanted something relaxed that would suit a mixed crowd and our Southern Slow Roast Menu was the obvious choice – offering plenty of variety without feeling overcomplicated, it’s ideal for events where everyone has different tastes.
On the day of the event, Hog Roast Belfast spent hours coaxing the pre-marinated meats to perfection, with BBQ pork butt, Cajun-spiced whole roasted chickens and Louisiana sticky pork ribs given the low and slow treatment until the meat was practically sliding off the bone before the knife even got close. As if that wasn’t enough, a signature hog roast with sage and onion stuffing and applesauce joined the lineup, turning an already impressive spread into something that stopped guests in their tracks when they caught sight of it.
The side dishes were equally impressive. Creamy mac and cheese, buttery corn cobettes, potato salad and a mixture of sweet potato and classic fries gave guests plenty to load onto their plates, while grilled vegetable skewers made sure vegetarian and vegan guests had something every bit as colourful and satisfying.
One of our favourite moments at events like this comes once everyone has their food. Conversations start flowing, people drift into little groups around the venue and, for a while at least, nobody is thinking about deadlines or inboxes.
By the end of the afternoon, the buffet had been thoroughly enjoyed, the atmosphere couldn’t have been more relaxed and the client was delighted with how everything had come together.
