Nobody’s ever said “You know what this team really needs? Another dull meeting.” Sometimes the fastest way to actually get colleagues working well together is pulling them away from their desks entirely, swapping spreadsheets and deadlines for something a bit more fun, and just letting people relax and have a laugh for once.
That’s exactly why team building days tend to pay off. Whether it’s tackling a challenge as a group, discovering who takes party games far too seriously or simply spending time together away from the usual office grind, there’s something about a change of scenery that makes connecting with people so much easier. And obviously, no team day is complete without good food to bring everyone together, which is where we came in for our latest booking.
Based out of the busy Old Gasworks Business Park, our most recent client wanted a simple yet effective way to help their team bond and get to know one another better. And knowing few things spark conversation quite like sitting down over a proper meal, they brought Hog Roast Newry in to handle the catering and keep everyone fed throughout the afternoon.
With 50 staff to feed and a fair few dietary requirements to juggle, our Gourmet BBQ menu made perfect sense – it’s got that relaxed, sociable energy suited to a team event, while offering enough variety that everyone actually finds something they’ll enjoy.
Thai chicken kebabs, juicy gourmet sausages and handmade beef burgers piled high with melted cheese and fried onions made the core line up, and let’s just say they had everyone hooked from the first bite. Our vegetarian and vegan pals weren’t left out either, with veggie burgers and grilled veg kebabs joining the offerings. And as if that wasn’t enough, Hog Roast Newry came through with the sides in a big way. Zesty homemade coleslaw, a pasta salad loaded with fresh veg and a generous mix of sweet potato and classic fries, plus all kinds of sauces, salt and vinegar meant everyone was free to customise their plate.
The result was a well-fed, genuinely happy team, with plenty of time to chat and unwind before getting back to their desks. The client was delighted with how smoothly the day went and honestly, Hog Roast Newry was just glad to be part of it.
